Find a PG near the place you actually go every day

Distance to work decides more about your day than the room does. Search from your commute, not from the city centre.

Why "near me" is the wrong first filter

A room is near you for about eight hours a day. The other sixteen are spent commuting or sleeping. Filter by the walk from the metro or the office gate first, then widen radius until the rent fits. Most people overspend on rent to save a commute they could shorten by two stops.

The realistic radius by city

  • In Delhi and Gurugram, three to five kilometres from a metro station is usually walkable-plus-shared-auto territory.
  • In Bengaluru, the last two kilometres matter more than the first ten because of traffic.
  • In Mumbai, proximity to a suburban line station beats proximity to the office.
  • In Pune and Hyderabad, a two-wheeler changes the maths entirely — a cheaper room further out can win.

What to compare across localities

Rent is only the first line. Compare water supply, power backup, waterlogging in monsoon, and whether autos run at the hour you leave. A cheaper room in a colony with no water tanker access is not cheaper.

Before you book a visit

Confirm the sharing, the deposit and the food arrangement on the phone. Ask for a photo of the actual bed, not the building. Two minutes on the phone saves an hour in an auto.

Questions people ask

How close should a PG be to my workplace?

Under five kilometres or one direct metro ride is the usual rule. Beyond that, the commute cost and time often cancel the rent saving.

Can I search by metro station?

Yes, localities are listed against their nearest station so you can search the way you travel.
