A girls PG is judged on rules, not on the lobby
The photos show the paint. The rules show whether you can live there. Both belong in the listing.
The details that matter
- Entry and exit timings, and whether they change on weekends.
- Whether a warden or manager lives on site, and their contact hours.
- Visitor policy — who can come to the gate, and whether family can enter.
- CCTV coverage at the entrance and in corridors, and who can view it.
- Whether the building has a working intercom and a second exit.
Questions to ask on the phone
Ask what happens if you are late because of a shift or an exam. Ask who holds the spare key. Ask whether male family members can help you move in. The answers tell you more than any brochure.
What a warden should not be
A warden is not a substitute for building security, and a locked gate is not a safety system. Look for lighting on the approach road, a functioning entrance camera, and a manager who answers the phone after ten at night.
Deposit and exit
Girls PG deposits are often two months. Ask whether the deposit is held against notice, damages, or both, and get the deduction rule in writing before you pay anything.
Questions people ask
Are girls-only PGs safer?
A rule is not a guarantee. What matters is entry control, on-site management, lighting and a working phone number. Check those, not the label.
Can my family visit?
Visitor policies differ widely. It is listed for every property, so check before you book a visit with family.
